Fifty nine thousand Farmers are going to benefit from this year’s Federal Goveenment Anchor Borrowers Programme in Gombe State.
Adamu Tukur the Northeast Commodity Association (NECAS) secretary told Voice of Nigeria in Gombe, that it was fully prepared to provide farming inputs to farmers in the state, becauae it was the link between farmers and the Federal Government of Nigeria.
Tukur said famers benefitting from the programme were in four categories of Rice, Bene seeds, Cotton and soya beans.
He said nineteen thousand(19,000)Rice farmers applied for the loan, but eleven thousand were cleared by the Central Bank of Nigeria to benefit.
According to Adamu Tukur the Gombe state Secretary of NECAS, said some applicants were not cleared due to challenges associated with the Bank verification number, while some had applied more than once and again other farmers had pending repayment of the same loans.
He said those with bank verification problems would be given another opportunity to reapply and get the loan, when the issue was sorted out.
In the meantime, another set of forty Thousand names of farmers in Gombe State, are ready for submission to the Central Bank of Nigeria for verification.
They are farmers in the category of Cotton, Bene seed, Soya beans producers, while those getting the loans were advised to use it for the purpose.
Also, farmers who will received the farming input have been assiref of getting them by May 2019.
The Gombe State NECAS also announced that the Federal Government would soon commence the payment another loans for livestock farmers in the country.
