The National Association of Sorghum Producers, Processors, and Marketers of Nigeria (NASPPAM), says it plans to mobilize 400,000 farmers nationwide for the production of sorghum during the 2019 wet season. The association made this known in a communiqué issued and signed by its National President, Mr. Muhammad Babayo-Maina and Publicity Secretary, Dr. Sani Hamza, in Abuja on Saturday.
It explained that the resolutions were part of the decisions at the end of the inaugural meeting of the newly elected national officers of the association in Abuja.
According to the communiqué, the association is targeting the production of sorghum in over two million hectares with a production output of about five million metric tones.
It also directed States and Local Government Chapters to forward details of farmers registered for the programme to national secretariat before May 25.
The newly elected executives are Muhammad Babayo-Maina, National President, Mr. Ibrahim Yusuf, Deputy National President, while Mrs. Judith Osinowo is the General Secretary.
